Hotlist: March 4

Hey friend!

We hope you’re still feeling the momentum of your remarkable display of advocacy at the Statehouse last week. Your dedication to opposing H.5118 sent an unequivocally strong message to both legislators and the utilities, and we are immensely grateful to each and every one of you who has contributed your time and passion to stopping this legislation.

With over 100 advocates present at the Statehouse on Tuesday, and more than 60 signed up to testify before the House Labor, Commerce, and Industry Subcommittee, our collective voice was a force to be reckoned with. Despite utility executives, out-of-town petroleum interests, and utility-backed special interests getting priority over voter voices, our united front communicated the message loud and clear. As noted in our last update, it was truly remarkable to witness the overflow room have an additional overflow room. Your presence made a profound impact, and we have so much to be proud of.

While this hearing marked the beginning of our journey, CVSC remains steadfast in opposing this legislation every step of the way. We will continue to amplify the concerns of voters and communities affected by this issue. Although the battle is far from over, your collective determination has placed us in a stronger position.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to protecting the South Carolina we love.
